Amendment #1
Original Wording: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
|
Explanation: This amendment makes it illegal to create a law that establishes a certain religion, stops freedom of speaking, and stops people of doing their religion. It also stops the press from printing what they want, but also it stops people from doing their right to assemble peacefully.
